Chocolate Brownie Explosion!

Last night Zachary's Cub Scout Pack had a cake auction to raise money for Cub Scout Camp. We made a Chocolate Brownie Explosion Volcano "Cake"! It turned out really cool! It is 5 layers of homemade fudge brownie with chocolate frosting, hard candy lava exploding out the top, and red vine licorice racing down the sides! The cake was purchased for $61.00!!! That was the second highest bid of the night! The top cake of the night was made by my friend Angie and someone bought it for $85.00!! The boys had a great time and it was a very successful evening :)

that is just the coolest. Email me the recipe, maybe May 18th we will have it to celebrate MT St Helen. hehehahahh. I cant believe people paid that much. Please tell me that there must have been more than "mormons" there. I just cant see "us" all someone paying that. Although its a great cause! Still WOW. I am amazed.

We are totally impressed by this cake. I have to say that a concoction made of brownies is so much better than a plain cake. It is amazing. Dad calls it a work of art.

Your cake should've been the 85.00 one not mine. The volcano is much cooler! :)

Thanks everyone! I really love to create things, but I've never really tried cakes before, and I've discovered that it's not as scary as I've always thought! The volcano cake idea came from Family Fun... http://jas.familyfun.go.com/recipefinder/display?id=50219

And I used 4 layers of chocolate brownie with a small 1-liter dome of brownie on top, so 5 layers with chocolate frosting between each layer. The "Outrageous Brownie" recipe I love and use all the time is from Barefoot Contessa on Food Network: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/outrageous-brownies-recipe2/index.html

However, note that I did not add the Coffee or nuts :) Enjoy!

grrr, no nuts?! I don't want to live it a world without nuts. I do, however, want to live in the world of chocolate brownie volcanoes... I have one word. AWESOME!!
